Last weekend, I had a large gathering at my house to celebrate the arrival of spring; and yes, it actually felt like spring. The sun was shining, the birds were happy, and the temperature was 67, which is close to heat wave proportions this time of year in Minnesota. I made shredded beef in the slow cooker and used it for sandwiches (I used hamburger buns). I found a recipe on RecipeTips.com called, “Slow Cooker Italian Beef,” and everyone said the same thing: “Wow! This is fantastic! Where did you find this recipe?”

The flavor was irresistible—and surprising. It didn’t taste quite like I expected it to taste. The beef had almost a sweet quality about it, even though no sweet ingredients were used. The flavor was definitely what I would describe as Italian; yet it wasn’t overpowering—it was just right—perfect! It must have been perfect, because my guests gobbled up every bit of it. I’ll definitely be making this one again. Try it for yourself and I’m sure you’ll agree with my assessment.
